Tirpitz
On 12th November 1944 British forces bombed and sank a German battleship named "Tirpitz" off the Norwegian coast. About 950 people were killed. The only things left to be seen on the island of Håkøya now are the commemorative plaque and the wooden structure in the water that was the working platform used for the scrapping of the vessel. Bomb craters from the ones that missed are also still visible on the island.
