Night, the beloved ....

"Night, the beloved.  Night, when words fade and things come alive.  When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again.  When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree."

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Mont Blanc #3

This photo of the Mont Blanc range was taken about 20 minutes before yesterday's. Before the sunrise, the mountains were bathed in the light of the setting full moon. The picture is rather grainy due to low light and lack of tripod!

Eclipse

Last Wednesday night there was a total lunar eclipse lasting 100 minutes. This photo was taken from the harbour in Cannes in the south of France, and shows the eclipsed moon glowing red due to sunlight being refracted around our planet.
